Brown-- The Verdugo Hills Dons fell to the Venice Gondoliers 12-11 Wednesday to be eliminated from post-season play.
The
Gondoliers built up a 6-2 lead over three innings only to have the Don's storm back with eight runs in the third inning.
A 3-run homer by catcher Paul Lindeman, and a 2-run single by Bryson Surratt were the big
blows in the rally.
The Don's took an 11-8 lead into the 7th inning, only to see Venice strike for 4 runs to take a
12-11 lead, which was enough for the win.
The game featured big performances by Lindeman (3/5,HR,5
RBI), Surratt (3/5,3 RBI), Nash Hutter (3/5,2B,2 RBI), Russell Stark (2/5,2B),
and Stephen Miller (2/3).
It was a disappointing finish to a dramatic season, which saw the Dons finish
with an impressive 16-9 record (12-3 in League).

May 15, 2007 Verdugo Hills 8, North Hollywood 1 Submitted
by Tyler Brown The Verdugo Hills Dons defeated the North Hollywood Huskies 8-1 Tuesday to finish regular season play. Nash
Hutter threw a 2 hit complete game for the victory. Paul Lindeman. Russell Stark
and Aaron Weaver each collected two hits.
The Dons (16-8, 12-3) finished second in the Sunset Six
League of the Los Angeles City Section, one game behind Poly of Sun Valley. The Dons will play an undetermined team
next week in the first round of the City playoffs.
May 10, 2007 Grant 5, Verdugo Hills 1 Grant
of Van Nuys beat Verdugo Hills in seven innings. Verdugo Hills plays North Hollywood at home on Tuesday.

The Verdugo Hills Dons defeated
the Poly Parrots 7-4 Monday in league play to take first place in the Sunset Six League of the Los Angeles City Section.
Russell Stark homered in the win, with Stephen Hansen (6-0, ERA 1.63) collecting the win.
Nash Hutter closed out the game for his second save.
Hutter doubled and tripled,
extending his league leading average to .541, 9th overall in the Los Angeles City Section.
The Dons (17-4, 11-2) knocked
off the Parrots, ranked 25th in the City in the Daily News poll. The Dons and Parrots have identical 11-2 records in
the Sunset Six League, but Verdugo Hills has defeated Poly twice in three appearances to claim first place.
From LA Daily News, 5/10/07--"Verdugo Hills of Tujunga senior Nash Hutter's
2-for-3 performance Monday against Poly of Sun Valley gave him 12 hits in six games, raising his average to a league-high
.541.
The performance also put the Dons back in a first-place tie with Poly. Verdugo
Hills, which finishes its regular season Tuesday against North Hollywood, would get the nod as the league's top seed for playoffs
based on taking two of three games from the Parrots this season."

Sanchez threw a complete game victory, striking out six, while walking only one. Nash Hutter
and Stephen Hansen homered in the win, with Tyler Shannon stroking 3 doubles. Hutter
leads the league in batting average (.534) and home runs (4). The Dons (14-6, 10-2) held on to second place in the Sunset
Six League of the Los Angeles City Section, one game behind Poly of Sun Valley. The Dons play Poly at home, with first place
at stake.

Stephen Hansen drove in four runs on two hits and scored a run and Nash Hutter
had a hit, three RBIs and two runs scored for visiting Verdugo Hills (15-6, 11-2). Miguel Sanchez allowed
six hits and struck out six over a complete-game effort to earn the win.

by Tyler Brown-- The Verdugo Hills Dons edged the Canoga Park
Hunters 9-8 Tuesday in a see-saw battle. Nash Hutter (.545) homered, doubled and singled, while hurling
a complete game victory. Daniel Carranza also had 3 hits, while Russell Stark, Stephen
Hansen and Jeff Obar all collected 2 hits. Tyler Shannon and Ian
Wilson each made spectacular catches in the outfield. With the win, the Dons (13-6, 9-2) held on to second place
in the Sunset Six League of the Los Angeles City Section, one game behind Poly of Sun Valley.

Verdugo
Hills produced 12 hits and tied North Hollywood in the fourth inning, but were defeated in the bottom of the seventh.
Jimmy Garcia, Nash Hutter, Aaron Weaver and Ian Wilson all had two hits apiece, with Chris
Johnson and Tyler Shannon stroking key hits at the top of the sixth. The Dons play Canoga
at home on Tuesday.
Nash
Hutter (.521), Jimmy Garcia (.484), Ian Wilson (.484), and Bryson Surratt
(.481) rank in the top 27 respectively for batting average in the Los Angeles City Section and hold the #1, #2, #3 and #4
spots in league.

Surratt went 4-for-4, and Stephen Miller delivered the walk off single to cap the victory.
With the win, the Dons (12-4, 8-1) held on to a share of first place in the Sunset Six League of the Los Angeles City Section.

Submitted by Tyler Brown The Verdugo Hills Dons defeated the Grant Lancers 5-4 Thursday with a team effort, playing solid, fundamental baseball,
to retain first place in the Sunset Six League of the Los Angeles City Section. Bryson Surratt pounded
a lead-off home run to stake the Dons to a 1-0 lead in the 1st. Nash Hutter pitched Verdugo Hills to a 3-3
tie through 4 innings. Sophomore catcher Ian Wilson and Miguel Sanchez each stroked
two hits in the win, with Sanchez pitching the final 3 innings for the win. Wilson
currently leads the Sunset Six League with a .550 average. Errorless play by Verdugo Hills contributed to the victory.
Verdugo
Hills (10-4, 7-1) is in sole possession of first place in the Sunset Six League. The Dons play next against North Hollywood
at home Monday.

Submitted by Tyler Brown The Verdugo Hills Dons exploded for 17
hits to pull off a dramatic 8-5 victory over Grant High School Lancers (Van Nuys) in extra innings Tuesday. Stephen
Hansen, in relief of starter Daniel Carranza, pitched 6 innings, and drove in the winning runs with
a bases-loaded 3-run double in the top of the ninth to provide the margin of victory. Nash Hutter closed
out the game for the win. The Dons collected 17 hits in the victory, with sophomore catcher Ian Wilson leading
the attack with 3 hits. Bryson Surratt, Hutter, Miguel Sanchez and junior Jimmy Garcia
all notched two hits apiece. Verdugo Hills (9-4, 5-1) remains tied with Poly (Sun Valley) for the lead of the Sunset
Six League. The Dons play Grant again at home Thursday.

Verdugo Hills took an early 2-0 lead against Poly in the first inning, but were
defeated in the sixth. Nash Hutter stroked an over-the-left-field fence homerun followed by an
in-the-park homer by Paul Lindeman during the first inning at Poly. The Dons play at Grant on
Tuesday.

Tyler Brown--Nash Hutter pitched for the win, and Stephen Hansen
closed for the save, as Verdugo Hills High School (23rd ranked in Daily News Poll) defeated Poly (Sun Valley) 8-7 in League
play Monday. Verdugo took sole possession of first place in the Sunset Six League with the win, running their record
to 8-2, 5-0 in League.
Hutter walked, was hit, singled, and stroked a sacrifice fly to go 1-1 in the
game, increasing his L.A. City Section hitting lead to .643.
Hansen allowed his first earned run of
the season to leave him with an ERA of 0.375, still tops in the Los Angeles City Section.
Bryson Surratt (.452),
Paul Lindeman (.464), and Ian Wilson (.500) all collected two hits in the victory.
Verdugo Hills took an early
8-1 lead in the contest on hits by Surratt, Lindeman, Russell Stark (.333), Stephen Miller (.412), and Jimmy Garcia
(.474).
As Poly climbed back into the game, Hansen was summoned in relief. Hansen collected
the save with three innings of relief, striking out five, while surrendering his first earned run of the season.
Verdugo
Hills, on a 3 game winning streak after defeating Hollywood and Locke in the RBI Tournament, play Poly again Thursday in Sunset
Six play.
The Verdugo Hills JV team ran its record to 7-0 with a 9-4 win over Poly.

Stephen Hansen allows only one hit to defeat Van Nuys Hunters.
Written by Tyler Brown-- Stephen Hansen of the Verdugo Hills Dons threw a one-hit shutout to defeat the
Van Nuys Hunters Thursday 11-0. Following the no-hitter Monday by teammate Daniel Carranza, Verdugo
Hills pitchers have allowed one hit over two league games. Hansen allowed a soft line drive single
to Suarez in the fifth inning to break the 12 inning hitless streak. Hansen and battery-mate Paul
Lindeman struck out 5 Hunters while walking only one. The Dons exploded offensively for 15 hits, led by Nash
Hutter with 3 hits, Bryson Surratt, Paul Lindeman, Stephen Miller and Hansen with
2 hits each. The Dons, leading the Sunset Six League in the Los Angeles City Section, ran their record to 4-0 in League,
5-1 overall. The Dons next play Huntington Park in the RBI Easter
Tournament, 3:00 Saturday at Long Beach State .

NO HITTER!
Daniel Carranza strikes out 14 in first league match against Van Nuys High. Written by T. Brown--Daniel Carranza threw a no-hitter Monday, leading the Verdugo Hills Dons to a 5-0 victory. Carranza
(1-0) smothered the Van Nuys Wolves, striking out 14 while walking only one. The first Van Nuys batter of the game drew
the walk, and was quickly gunned down at second by battery-mate Paul Lindeman. The other two Van Nuys
runners reached as a result of being hit by Carranza pitches. The game was scoreless until Russ Stark
(.500) hit a solo home run in the sixth, giving the Dons all the runs they needed. Verdugo Hills added four more in
the 7th on hits by Jimmy Garcia, Stephen Hansen, Bryson Surratt, Stephen Miller and Stark.
Surratt added a defensive gem at shortstop in the bottom of the 7th, ranging deep in the hole, with Miller
digging the throw out of the dirt at first to get the runner on a bang-bang play. Carranza fanned the
final hitter to seal the victory. The Verdugo Dons, coached by Bud Schaetzle, are 4-1 (3-0 in league), and are currently
tied for first place in the Sunset Six League of the Los Angeles City Section.

The Verdugo Hills High School Dons pulled off another dramatic come-from-behind
victory Thursday (3/22) to defeat the Canoga Park Hunters 10-9 in League play. Bryson Surratt lead off with
a home run to stake the Verdugo Hills Dons to a 1-0 lead in the first, only to have the Hunters storm back to take a 9-1 lead
in the bottom of the inning. Verdugo showed patience, skill and grit, chiseling away at the huge lead; scoring three
in the third, one in the 4th and 5 in the 5th to take a 10-9 lead. Surratt, Daniel Carranza, Nash Hutter, Russell
Stark, Aaron Weaver and Tyler Shannon all collected two hits to overcome the 8 run deficit. Stephen
Hansen continued his scoreless streak in relief to notch the win, striking out seven; and Nash Hutter shut
down the Hunters, collecting his first save. The Dons exploded for 17 hits in the victory, while playing superb defense.
The Dons, currently in first place in the Sunset Six League, play again at Van Nuys Monday.

(.556) singled home Mike Espinoza with the winning run in the 7th inning to cap a 4-3 come-from-behind win
over the Canoga Park Hunters Tuesday. Hutter and shortstop Bryson Surratt each collected
two hits, as Daniel Carranza and Miguel Sanchez held the Hunters to 3 runs. Carranza
struck out 5 in 3 innings, while Sanchez fanned six, and picked up the victory in relief. The VH Dons
are 1-0 in League, and 2-1 overall. The next game is on the road Thursday against the same Canoga Park team.
